Before liberation, Zhang Genbao came to a small town in eastern Zhejiang with his mother to learn art from the old tailor Liu Jinfa. Liu Jinfa had a daughter named Fengying, who lived a peaceful life together as a teacher and apprentice. After a few years, both Genbao and Fengying had grown up, and the old tailor decided to betroth his daughter to Zhang Genbao.
